The Last Resort by Heidi Perks

The Last Resort by Heidi Perks

Two people.
Two sides of the story.
Whose do you trust?

When Erin and Will start having couples therapy, they hope it'll fix the rift that has appeared out of nowhere in their marriage.

But their therapist Maggie cannot work out whose version of the truth she can trust.

Then Erin is brought into hospital in a critical condition following a hit-and-run accident. Now everyone is desperate to unravel the truth.

Because if this isn't an accident, then someone close to Erin must be responsible . . .

About the author.

My first book published with Century, NOW YOU SEE HER, came out in July 2018. It became a Sunday Times Bestseller and a Richard and Judy book club pick, and in 2021 I received a silver Nielsen bestseller award for selling over 250,000 copies.

I live by the sea in Bournemouth with my husband and two children, and love spending time on the coast and in my beach hut where I get much of my inspiration for the crime thrillers I write. I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I do writing them!

Review

‘The Last Resort’ is a gripping and tension-packed read that I devoured in one sitting! Heidi Perks is an author that I have seen everywhere but never actually read any of her books despite wanting to, so I was excited to read this one! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Erin and Will are having problems in their marriage and have started couple therapy as a last ditch attempt to save it. Maggie is their therapist and she is struggling to get to the crux of their problems. Erin is then found to be the victim of a hit-and-run and Will and the police are scrambling to find out the truth of what happened.

This book definitely keeps you on tenterhooks as you are constantly trying to guess what is happening! There were brilliant reveals throughout and I was racing through the pages to get to the end so I could find out the truth. A suspenseful read that was packed full of tension, brilliant pacing and a powerful use of differing POV’s. I really liked Erin as a character but the author is clever with her and you never quite know where you are with her. Actually, it's the same for Will and Maggie as well! Such good writing.

Let me know if you pick this one up!
