Review
I loved this anthology of short stories! They were quick paced, darkly funny, gasp out loud moments, and more importantly they felt authentic. The fact that Keith has an opening gambit explaining the background to these stories gives it that sense of authenticity. The first story made me quite emotional really.
This is a great book to dip in and out of and I have been doing that for a few weeks now. Some of the stories are still resonating with me now. ‘The Parcel’ just made me feel sad. I saw this situation where only myself cared for my mum when she had terminal cancer and the pressure is immense. I don’t know what I would have done in the main characters situation but there is no evil in that story it’s just shitty life. The ‘Dead To The World’ one made me gasp at the ending.
Each and every one of the stories made an impact, had amazingly formed characters and were really easy and enjoyable to read. I used to read a lot of short stories when I was younger and this book has reignited my love for them. I will be more open to them again.
I hope that this book gets the reaction it deserves! I know that the start of September in mental in regards to the amount of books being released but I hope that you will give this one a chance as it is a gem!
