The Killing Parade by TG Reid
Who will be next?
When the body of a local talent show winner is discovered, on the eve of headlining Kilwinnoch’s annual Civic Week celebrations, it throws the festivities into chaos and threatens to tear the close-knit community apart.
For DCI Bone, the death is personal. Days earlier, he’d received a call from the victim, warning that she was about to be killed. He’d dismissed it as a hoax.
With threats of more to come, a town on edge, and a ruthless killer evading detection with ease, Bone knows from hard -worn experience that, in a case like this, one kill is never enough.
Perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, J.D. Kirk, Val McDermid and Stuart MacBride.

Review
‘The Killing Parade’ is a gripping thriller that is fast paced, it’s full of humour but has a dark underbelly - a winning combination! One of those ‘one-sitters’ of a book that you fly through, reach the end and instantly want to read the next one. It’s a testament to Tom’s writing that you want to find out more about the team as you really do connect with the characters. This is the fourth book in the series and it can be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading the whole series though as you will learn why Bone has PTSD etc but you definitely can read this one and thoroughly enjoy it without reading the others.
DCI Bone and his team have been asked to investigate the death of a local celebrity. A young vlogger and singer Dee Dee has been found murdered. She had returned to her home town to perform a concert at the end of the annual town parade. Bone has taken this case personally as Dee Dee tried to call the police as she was fleeing from her killer, but it was put down as being a prank call. When they get a message from the killer threatening to kill others the pressure is heaped upon the team to figure out what is going on and the hunt for the killer is put into overdrive!
I love this series and it's now an auto-read for me as you know you will be guaranteed a good read! I think it's the combination of the dark material counterbalanced with the Scottish humour! Plus, it's not just the main protagonist you care about it's all the members of the team. I don't know why but I found all the ‘oooh we can't cancel the parade’ funny! I think I was reading it in a Kenneth Williams voice as well. Random I know. On the personal side, it was great to see that Bone was reconnecting with his family a lot more in this book. After everything he has been through it's good to see him get some positives in his life!
Let me know if you read this one!
